How to play Daily Pun Decoder
Find today's five-letter word in six attempts. Each guess returns three pieces of evidence: exact position means the letter is correct and correctly placed; wrong position means it belongs elsewhere; not in the word means you can rule it out.
Open with useful coverage
Begin with a real word containing different vowels and common consonants. Words such as CRANE, SLATE, and ROAST test five high-frequency letters at once. Your first guess should gather information rather than depend on luck.
Test, then switch to solving
On guess two, untested letters can be more useful than rearranging the same clues. From guess three onward, work with the evidence you have confirmed and place known letters. Pay special attention to common endings such as ER, LY, ED, and CH.
Remember repeated letters
Five slots do not always mean five different letters. Words such as BERRY and KNOLL can break an otherwise strong deduction. If four letters seem right but nothing fits, test whether one of them appears twice.
