How to play Punworks
Choose your challenge, uncover 8 original funny words, and clear a picture-shaped board. Every puzzle works on phones, tablets, and desktops.
Classic mode
- Choose Classic to reveal the 8 words hidden in the board.
- Find a word across, down, or diagonally. It may run forward or backward in any of those directions.
- Tap the first letter, then the last letter. A correct word is highlighted and checked off.
- Find all 8 words to clear the board.
Clue Mode mode
Clue Mode is the advanced version. The answers stay hidden. First solve each humorous clue, then find its pun in the board. You earn 100 points for every answer and lose 25 points for each extra hint.
- Read a clue and imagine the made-up word or phrase it describes.
- Use a hint if you need one. The first reveals the opening letter; the second also reveals the final letter.
- Find the answer across, down, or diagonally—forward or backward—then tap its first and last letters.
Quick answers
Do words go backward?
Yes. Words may run horizontally, vertically, or diagonally in either direction.
Are Classic and Clue Mode different puzzles?
They use the same board. Classic shows the word list; Clue Mode hides the answers behind clues.
How many words are in a puzzle?
Every current Punworks board contains 8 funny words.
Can children play?
Yes. Classic mode is the easiest place to start, and the current packs use family-friendly humor.
